Another Way Out

I got an e-mail from J. today about the past due child support for Reagan. He's in the hole for over $12k now. Seems he's finally had his licence suspended and can't drive. Since he's agreed to sign the paperwork allowing Reagan to be adopted he's asked me to send something to the Child Support people saying that I forgive his debt. He even offered to pay child support til the adoption goes through (ya, I know, I'll hold my breath, right?) You know, it's fine with me. It's not like I have ever been able to expect to see that money anyway. It just seems like J. has found a way out again. His philosophy has always been "Ignore it and it will go away." That's how he got into the mess with the child support in the first place. Now I'm actually helping him make it go away. Since it's in the best interest of my son I'll go along with it. I still think he hasn't learned a thing. Well, one more good reason Reagan should be adopted by Dominic, right?

Pray for J. Sometimes I think he's truly lost.
