Allright. I'm entering the brave world of cloth diapering. I went to a store called "Pea Pods" in St. Paul today and picked up a dozen bleached Chinese prefolded cloth diapers and four pro-wrap classic velcro covers. I liked the store. They had two sizes of prefold and a ton of covers that you could touch and see how to use. The also had an extensive collection of fitted diapers and all-in-one's. Really cool store. I've washed the diapers several times and dried them, watching them fluff up in the process. I've changed our diaper genie into a cloth diaper accepting receptacle. And tonight my child lies in her bed in a cloth diaper. I love the way her tush looks! It's all chubby and cute!
Tomorrow I'll go back to the store and exchange three of my covers. They're a size too big, I'll go a size smaller. And I think I'll pick up a couple of super soakers for at night. But so far this cloth diapering thing seems kinda cool. I figure every paycheck for a while I'll add just a bit to the cloth diapering stack, and pretty soon I'll be able to do it full time. I'd also like to have everything ready for an infant before baby comes in January. I figure in the long run it'll save us over $1000. For families that buy expensive disposables, even buying the most expensive cloth would save them over $1000!
But I'll let everyone know in a week or so if I'm still on the cloth diaper bandwagon.
