Every year for All Souls Day we go and decorate Sarah's marker. I thought I'd post pictures.
This is the tree that's growing nearby. I wish the picture did it justice. It's absolutely gorgeous right now, all golden and red.
Ciaran ran around and loved being outdoors. I took him with me to make the rounds , visiting the other babies. I'm sure I'm not the only mom to take note of new babies, or to visit the older ones. It's a different kind of community, but a community nonetheless.
Daddy and the Piper sit together and look at Sarah.
We decorated her marker with Fall flowers, toys, and some candy from Halloween.
Piper remembered exactly where Sarah was from our last visit. She sat down and said "Hi, Sarah, it's me, Piper. Your big sister. I love you Sarah." and before we left she told Sarah that she'd love her forever. It's a miracle I didn't break down.
So, Sarah continues as part of our family, even in heaven. And we can't leave her out of family celebrations. I only wish she were really here, running around, and enjoying the leaves falling from the trees. I do take some comfort in the knowledge that in heaven, at least, she's healthy and whole, and can enjoy things in a way I can't even imagine yet.
I'm so sorry, Anne.
