Review of Empty Cradle, Broken Heart: Surviving the Death of Your Baby:

I bought this book within days of Sarah's death.

I'm a book learner. I look to books to teach me all sorts of things. From parenting ideas, to homeschooling, to crochet patterns, I search the shelves of libraries and bookstores until I find what I'm looking for.

When Sarah died, I needed help grieving. I just felt so lost. I picked up this book expecting it would teach me how to let her go, how to mourn her, and how to return to my "normal" life.

It didn't do any of those things. It did teach me that there was no right way to grieve. It taught me that there is no "normal" after the death of a child, and that it's okay. It taught me that while closure may never be possible, one can go on. And all of the things I was feeling were actually really normal after all.

I can't recommend this book highly enough to anyone who has lost a child, especially later in pregnancy.
