Imagine someone went on a bad acid trip and watched too many episodes of HR Puff 'n Stuff. Then add some obnoxious music and ugly characters. Congratulations, you've just imagined the new show, Yo Gabba Gabba. It's truly awful. So, why do my children love it? I'm not sure I have the answer to that question. Perhaps it's because it's colorful, or because they just love music. Maybe it's because Yo Gabba Gabba encourages them to dance around the room like crazy people. Even Ciaran gets into the wiggle/hold still song. It's crazy!Love it, they do, however, and much like my parents never understood how I could listen to Grunge, I'll probably never get Yo Gabba Gabba's appeal. There are some great educational TV shows that I love. The Magic Schoolbus, Little Einsteins, The Backyardigans, My Friends Tigger and Pooh (Darby has grown on me). But Yo Gabba Gabba just gives me the heebie jeebies. I mean, if they had to go all retro and colorful, couldn't they bring back The Great Space Coaster ? I mean what's better than the Gnu Gnews, with Gary Gnu?
