Just One Of Those Days

wine

Every mom knows that sometimes you rock motherhood, and sometimes motherhood rocks you.  Getting rocked can be awesome, like the first time your baby smiles at you, or when you see your kid do something nice for someone, just because.  Just as often though, I find that being rocked by motherhood is somewhat like being trampled by a herd of wild buffalo.

When I spend half the night on the couch so as not to disturb my amazing (and amazing loud when snoring) husband, I begin the day at a disadvantage.  Then kids have lost the game we bought.  Again.  We've bought this game twice now and I'm getting a little annoyed.  I took the girls to see Shrek and didn't realize that I'd put on my sunglasses instead of the 3D glasses.  Seriously.  I was about to demand my money back for the blurry movie before I realized my mistake.  I had to wrestle Ciaran, a lot, while already tired, and get him to his speech therapy appointment.  I couldn't manage to keep anyone on task.  Someone brought the crayons down and my walls have once again become a canvas for two very artistic boys....do I need to go on?

Just before dinner I made a run to the liquor store and bought Cheap Red Wine.  No really, that's actually the name on the bottle.

wine

You see, not every day, but once in a while, I have a day where I am rocked.  And it truly calls for a bottle of wine.  So who am I to say no?  I didn't drink a bottle, but I did have a glass or two.  Maybe tonight I'll sleep.  And tomorrow I'll rule motherhood!  Or you know, maybe I'll get some knitting done.  Whichever.

  2. I've had days like that too! Days I WISH I could drink the whole bottle, but can't because I'm still nursing. :-)

  3. Oh Anne - I'm sorry you had a rough day - But THANK YOU for telling us about it. I'm so with you and the only thing that seems to help these days is knowing I'm not alone. Here's to rocking today!
