Money Problems?

I worked with a nurse once, who was older than me, and very smart.  She told me that everyone has money problems, it's just that most people don't talk about it.  I know I don't.  To be honest, it embarrasses me.  I think I'm pretty smart, but when it comes to money, I'm a complete idiot.

Of course, if I could cash the check above, at the bank of Piper, I'd never have to worry about money again.  She's apparently as frugal as I am, writing checks for Ten Billion dollars (and zero one-thousand cents) to no one in particular.  I'm thinking this may seriously overdraw her piggy bank.

Right now money is especially tight.  I'm currently unemployed.  It's a long story that I don't want to get into, but I am without a job, and that means without an income as well.  I need to curb spending.  I have to.  I can't afford not to do right by my family right now.  I think with my unemployment and Dominic working extra hours, we'll be okay, but not if I don't help.

Oh well.  At least I have this nifty check to fall back on, right?

  1. Prayers! This is going to sound like a silly commercial, but the Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover book really helped me, because I was ridiculously clueless about money. It's the best $14 I ever spent! :) It's an easy read...worth checking out. That million dollar check is precious!

  2. I am... a total Dave Ramsey JUNKIE. We did (are doing) the Debt Snowball and are down from about $7k in credit card debt (houses are expensive, especially when you buy a distressed rental property badly in need of some lovin) to less than $4k in about four or five months. It's been tight, and we've had to be super disciplined, but it's worked.

All that aside, I'm sorry to hear that bad news - being unemployed is never fun. Jei is still unemployed after almost two years (laying off a dude after his first week back to work as a daddy remains a REALLY CRAPPY MOVE, PEOPLE) and it's certainly taken its fair toll on us.

Hang in there and enjoy your extra time with your family, I suppose. My good thoughts are with you folks.
